Training for teachers at basic levels is the study of the theories, methods and practice of giving children between normally 5-15 years of age a sound basic education in reading, writing and mathematics along with an elementary understanding of other subjects such as history, geography, social science etc. Subject specialisation should be stressed less than in field 145 `Training for teachers with subject specialisation¿. The study of teaching children with special needs is included in this field, likewise the study of teaching adults basic reading and writing and teaching immigrants the basics in their home language.
