Nota | Basic / broad, general programmes are programmes designed to give a basic education in reading, writing and arithmetic along with an elementary understanding of other subjects such as history, geography, natural science, social science, art and music, and in some cases religious instruction is featured. Basic programmes are normally given at primary and lower secondary level. Broad, general programmes at upper secondary level are also classified here ¿ which should be the case even if there is some concentration on a certain category of subject matter such as humanities, social science, natural science etc. Vocational programmes are included only by way of exception.
